Ok, so everyone knows that public schools often are having fights and kids, especially the nerdy ones
are getting hurt.But sadly that's high school for us. Man, we have to get used to and learn the right crowd to be around.Now my thought on this is that what if students were allowed to have cellphones in school? Now be serious. I'm not talking about texting in class without permission. I'm talking about a harmful situation.Now i already know that you teachers and possibly parents do not agree with me, but come on.
I know there are some parents just sick and tired of their kids coming home with bruises and scrapes not to mention cuts.Now parents wouldn't you want to be instantly notified if your kid was in danger. I mean really it takes about four seconds to make it to the restroom and lock that stall door and to pull out that phone and send a 3 second text to your parents ,teacher, or even principal know. That's what I call sweet justice; right there teachers running down the hallway to the rescue.Now doesn't that Sound more efficient? It sure would decrease the number of injuries that are daily happening in schools. Isn't that what you want?.

Yes, I agree that cellphones can be a useful security device in schools, especially if you're a nerd and someone is after you day in and day out. I also understand why teachers don't like them because students text during class and don't pay attention. Overall, yes, students should be able to carry their phones on them just in case. They are like a security blanket, not just a social networking tool.

ok you may be right about the texting and the cheating on the test but that brings me to another point of mine that kids should have sign a contract at the beginning of the school year stating that they agree to the terms of use
the contract will say something like students carrying cellphones are not aloud to use during school hours but in hallways if emergency comes up also if before school and after school but if being harrassed by another student can be used anytime without penalties what do you guys think.

I\'m from the UK.
I always have my mobile with my at school. If it\'s raining and need a lift home I can ring my mum and save me walking for an hour in the rain to get home. There are many other reasons to have a phone in school as well, bullying, pastoral care, after school clubs etc... Also when it was snowing one day and the school had to close early, they asked if anyone had a mobile so they could check for permission to send us home. There are only 5 phones in the office and for them to ring over 1000 student\'s parents, it would take forever. So by us having our mobiles, it was a bonus. If we text during lessons, our phones are taken away, so no one does. Simple.

This goes so much farther even than bullying problems. For those of you that disagree think of this. Remember the Columbine shooting in Colorado? What if one of those victims would have had a cell phone and was able to call the police or the principal and let them know that there were students carrying guns into the school? Or what if God forbid terrorists infiltrate a school and are holding your kids hostage? Wouldn't you want to be able to know that your kids are safe and that they can call or text for help? Cell phones are so savvy these days that you can probably block certain numbers until the kid gets home and then unblock them after they get done with their homework or something. You have to think logically about this.

If any student is in danger within the confines of a public school, it is the responsibility of the teacher and/or administration to notify the parent or guardian of said student. Should any kind of threat be noticed and nobody be notified, this is a half-assed job by the employees of said school district.
Let's say also that would actually be allowed to have a cell phone in class. Look at me dead in the...uh...screen and tell me that you would only use it for threatening situations. The privledge would be abused. Like Bobby on Whitney abused. You would be texting the kid next to you about how that day's class sucks and, since most cell phones have internet, be looking at Kardashian sister nip slips.
Cell phones in the classroom would create anarchy and an absence in learning. Kids, the majority of them anyway, would not be able to handle the priviledge.

Students don't need to be tempted to use their phones at school. If they carry them just to feel safe, they'll use them to text their buddies too. Plus, plenty of kids get their phones stolen at school, creating a whole other set of problems.

Nerds can take care of themselves. I used to be one and i wasn't bullied because I could hold my ground. Nerds are only nerds because they are smarter than all the average kids. I carry my phone with me and it creates no issues . . . becauser it stays in my pockets. there is no need to have them out during the school-day. It sounds like you are just looking for a reason to text your friends . . . most likely the one who is sitting next to you!

I understand the reason why cell phones in school would be beneficial. You know as well as I do that the privilege would be instantly abused.
Plus, if the bullies were smart, they'd bust your cell phone.
