Gay Rights Are Wrong


Gay Rights are wrong and should not be allowed. God created man and women to marry and create offspring. God did not create man to marry man or woman to marry woman. This is totally wrong and should not be allowed. It is so appaling and sad to see various States pass laws to allow this immoral act. We need to unite together and put a stop to Gay marriage once and for all. Do you want your son or daughter to marry someone of their own sex? I don't think so. Explain to your kids today how gay rights are wrong and lets defend what God intended.

Gay Rights are wrong and immoral. Notice how the lure and appeal of the United States has gone down hill since we stated allowing such bogus things like Gay Rights. America was built on religion and needs to remain that way. Not in a respect that it is forced down your throat every day, but that we believe in things like "homosexuality is wrong" and "abortion is wrong", etc...

Sounds like the people in the "Pro" column are ignorant scumbags with no arguments.

I'm straight but there is no reason to not allow gay people to marry.

The only arguments I see as of 8/6/11 are that gay rights are wrong because they "hate" gay people, they "don't want to watch [them] kiss or hold hands or disturb [their] nice lifestyle," that allowing gay marriage would hasten the decline of America and that "America was built on religion."

The first two arguments are obviously stupid. Gay people are allowed to kiss and hold hands under the status quo without gay marriage rights. Not only that, should we disbar any act that makes us uncomfortable? Maybe seeing people pray or being proselytized to by Christians makes me uncomfortable. Should we ban them from doing these things? Gay people being given rights does not infringe on *any* of your personal freedoms.

Also, by what mechanism would giving gays rights lead to the "downfall of America?" (Whatever that means) There is no plausible way this could happen. You write that it is a "repulsive sin" but since when does the government make things illegal just because they are sins in the Bible? Should the government make lying illegal? Should it make disobedience to parents illegal? Should it make greediness illegal? Should it make it illegal to wear clothes with different types of thread (read Leviticus)? Should it be illegal to be Jewish or Muslim? Professing faith in Allah or reject Jesus is a sin so why not ban that.

This leads into a critique of the argument that gay rights is wrong because "America is built on religion."(Read: Christianity) What a crock of BS. 1) A number of the founders were not religious and 2) why should we continue following something just because some of the founders believed it? Most of the founders believed in slavery too and even condoned it in the Constitution. That doesn't mean we should have slavery just because "America was built on slavery."

Gay rights and marriage equality will be de facto law within the next 20 years and our grandchildren will look back in history at people like you with the same confusion and contempt that we place on those that were against civil rights for blacks and other minorities.

If you feel that homosexual sex is in and of itself immoral, then 1) I feel sorry for you for your poor education, and 2) please realize that what other people do in bed is none of your business. They’re not hurting anyone. They’re not causing any harm. They aren’t doing anything illegal. They’re not involving you in any way. Same-sex couples have been having sex forever and they will continue to have sex forever and there’s nothing you can do about it. So get off your hypocritical high horse and pay some attention to your own marriage.
Tell me if I missed it, but I don’t recall hearing about a ballot initiative to ban Tiger Woods from every remarrying because he was “sexually immoral” and cheated on his wife a lot.

I have a gay friend who was trying to screw a screw onto a screw in an attempt to affix his license plate to his car. He was there in the garage crying for hours before I showed him how metal screws were designed to fit into threaded holes. He did much better and seemed like he was now able to bolt his license plate to his car, however, when I saw him putting the bolt in the wrong hole I said, "Oh no, it doesn't go there, silly! There is an appropriate hole for that screw!"

"Really?" he queried.

"Yes," I said, "you can't just try to put it in any old hole! You've got to put it in the hole for which it is designed!"

"Oh!" he exclaimed with pleasant surprise, "That's how it's supposed to go! That makes perfect sense!"

Later he went home and told his boyfriend that that's why he hadn't been able to get him pregnant through his butt, though they had been trying for many years. They both came by the house mystified by my insight and asked to know more. I showed them both pictures of vaginas and explained how penises were designed to go there and that that was how babies were made. They were awestruck!

Today they both have girlfriends and have used their vaginas to make children and are not gay anymore!

I personally do not think homosexuality is okay or anything, and this is coming from a freshman in high school. Even though religion has nothing to do with this it almost does depending on how you look at it. I truly think it is natural for a man to love a woman and only the opposite gender. I dislike anything having to do with the same sex and something intimate. Animals in the wild don't do that neither do we, as organized humans either believing creationism .

The people on my side are rather ignorant in their reasoning.

1) The Constitution does NOT guarantee to the homosexual community. The 14th amendment was originally designed in repudiation to slavery, to say that blacks were human and not property. On that note, I believe the 14th amendment has been abused by allowing the phenomenon of "anchor babies" to occur as well as fabricate special rights that do not exist.

2) I oppose same-sex marriage as well as anti-bullying laws designed to "protect" homosexuals. I oppose the former because well, Marriage is the oldest institution having been created before religion and government. It's soul purpose is for procreation and for raising children. Before anyone pops the ridiculous question "how does it hurt you", let me answer; it hurts me because you are telling my children that the two genders are interchangeable and are no different from one anther when the opposite has been proven true. Men and women both have qualities that are unique to their respective gender and are the primary influence in a child's development. This does not disqualify homosexuals from being parents because quite frankly, I believe children in two-parent households are better off than single-parent homes. I oppose anti-bullying laws because like crime, you can't stop bullying. I've been bullied, my brothers have been bullied, everyone at some point in their life has been bullied and picked on. Where were these laws when my father was harassed in middle school for being fat? He didn't have the luxury of these policies, he had to endure it because such is life.

3) I support Marriage Privatization at the state/local and federal level which would protect the holy institution of Marriage by leaving it strictly to the church and making civil unions universal to all. I want the government to stop regulating how people should live together. I oppose same-sex marriage, but I support civil unions being granted to EVERYONE. And if you think by supporting such-I believe it to be-a bold measure then there is no point in trying to have an honest conversation with you. There is an overwhelming majority of people who support Civil Unions and Illinois as of now is the only state that has made these available to straight couples. Have all the legal benefits of marriage in the secular Civil Union and the holy union of Marriage can be left up to the church.

The 14th Amendment of the US Constitution (Equal Protection Clause) says: "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."

If we are to follow the US Constitution, then we wouldn't be passing discriminatory laws against certain people or groups. It seems pretty simple, unless you prefer living in a country where we pass laws based on popularity, prejudice and whatever the majority wants. But, that's not what the USA is all about. It is about equality for all, regardless of who you are, what your religion is, etc. If you want to discriminate against another person, maybe you should move to China where there are no guarantees of equal protections. Eventually same-sex marriage will be legal in all 50 states. And, as we've seen in other countries and states that DO permit same-sex marriage, the world did not turn upside down and heterosexual marriages didn't get harmed. Heterosexual marriages have a 40 - 50% divorce rate regardless of their gay neighbors signing a legal piece of paper that grants them the same rights as your heterosexual marriage. And, if you're into "protecting" marriage - deal with the divorce rate with heterosexuals before anything else.

Like I said, we have the US Constitution to guarantee equal protections - to ALL Americans.

Although I personally feel the homosexuality is immoral and is a sin. Because the United States is not a theocracy and is a republic it cannot deny even the smallest minority the same right as every other individual. We must stop thinking of rights in groups but as inherent individual rights that cannot stepped on. Now having said that when it comes to same-sex marriage I do not that any government neither Federal,state, nor local should have the authority to conduct any marriage. instead there should only be civil unions which recognize that 2 people are living together. Marriage is religious institution instituted by god in the garden of Eden to be a holy matrimony between a man and his wife, so why are we allowing it to be dirtied by something as filthily as government?

i can understand how some people may be offended by gay marriage and as a straight guy i dont exactly like seeing two blokes necking on while im having a pint etc, tho two women haha only kidding. however, it is the persons own choice and i feel that it doesnt change my life at all. i dont consider homosexuality or gay marriage as an issue at all. as i say it has no impact on anyone. people arent gonna just turn gay because other people are doing it, its part of who they are. let them get on with it.

Are you kidding me? No one is gay by choice, it is just the way some people are born. There is nothing wrong with GLBT people. They are just normal people like everyone else. Our sexual orientation does not define who we are. Just like how people can be of different races or different hair colours, people can have different sexual orientations as well. I am a straight sophomore, but here in Canada we are much more accepting towards everyone. As for whatever the Bible says, it is important to be open minded towards everyone.

I'm from the UK, Female, 14 and i'm straight. I don't have a problem with gay marriage or gay people. The main reason the arrogant and idiotic people are saying that gay rights should be abolished is that 'God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve'. Ask yourself this, if God created man and woman to love one another and not man and man, or woman and woman, then why did he create these (and I quote) 'monsters' to feel the way they do? If he disagrees with them, then why can't he simply change their feelings, after all, he is God. I believe in God, but have no problems with gay or lesbian marriage. You can't change people's feelings and you shouldn't try. Sure, you may disagree with it, you may despise it, but you can't change it. So accept it and move on.
